Leagues
A player can enter as many leagues as they wish. To play in a league, the player must be a Member of EDIBC, with the exception of the Tuesday Evening Triples Cash Challenge which invites teams from other bowls clubs.
We also play in various external leagues for both Men and Ladies; for historical reasons, our Men are affiliated to Hampshire Bowls whilst our Ladies are affiliated to Dorset Bowls. See here for more information on the external leagues in which we participate.
Singles
We do not play regular singles leagues internally. However, we do have internal singles competitons which can lead to regional and national competitions.
Pairs | Traditional and Aussie, Mens, Ladies and Open
Pairs, as the name suggests, is teams of two people playing against each other. These teams can be either men only, women only or one of each. e do not play traditinal pairs leagues but we do play the Aussie pairs format.
Triples | Three wood and two wood Mens, Ladies, Open and cash
Traditionally played with three woods and in male, female or open teams of three, we have recently introduced the two-wood format popular in the World Champioships.
Rinks (Fours) | Mens, Ladies and Open
For many players, "real bowls" with teams of four competing with two woods each.
We now have two different Spoons sessions for Members, one offering instant rewards in the form of the Kit-Kat and Kuppa challenge at the end of the session, the other is ladder-based with a substantial cash prize at the end of the season. In both cases, Members are placed into random teams on random links - which gives Cygnets an equal chance as more experienced players.
